I'm looking for a scale that can measure large quantities but also offers grams as an option. I'm with a bakery now that uses a scale that weighs in pounds, ounces, pounds & ounces, and kilograms. It can use batteries but it's main power source is a plug-in. It caps out at around 70lbs. I've been slowly upgrading their methods to be more accurate with the formulas and processes. So I'm making the push to weigh everything in grams since it's the most straight forward and accurate method of weighing things.
The scale recently decided to quit working and now we're using less than ideal options.
So, what are some of the best and heaviest duty scales that offer grams as an option that you know of? It doesn't have to hit 70 lbs, I can split the weighing up if needed. I'm just looking to see if anyone can recommend the best heavy duty gram scale they've used before.
I don't have experience with bakery applications, but I did work in chemical manufacturing at small to medium size production. I've used Mettler-Toledo, Sartorius, and Ohaus balances. I can attest to the quality of all those brands, although we mostly had standardized on M-T balances because we had a contract with M-T for calibration and repair. These brands make some very rugged balances, but they may be more expensive than what you can afford. I think A&D Weighing is also a decent brand.
I had a couple of questions concerning your requirements:
