Poke Test Advice Please…

Can you please suggest best practice(s) for the poke test? I know the dough is supposed to spring back but leave an indent. Is it the same for the first rise and the second rise after loaves are shaped? How much of an indent (if any) would you recommend? How fast or slow does it spring back. In other words, what is the ideal poke test.

Things to look for when your poking around. Not only for how much it rebounds but try to get a feel for how much or how little resistance you get when you press into it. Try to discern whether the balloon is inflated or if it feels relaxed. Your hands can tell you a lot by just lightly touching the dough.
