Spare parts for the Grain maker 99

Hello there

I would like to buy a Grain Maker mill.

Could anybody suggest - based on his/her experience - what spare parts it is convenient to buy with the mill?

I was thinking perhaps: an extra set of burr and shaft & bearings. I am not sure about the auger...

Also, have you got any experience with the Homestead Huller kit? How often is it necessary to change the huller replacement pads? I am based in Italy and perhaps it is more cost-effective to order extra parts with the mill...

Thank you very much!

I just received my Grainmaker 99 and milled my first batch of flour yesterday. Even though I can't speak from a lot experience I can offer my initial thoughts. I am located in the Netherlands so I understand your concerns when it comes to ordering some spare parts while you are it. I ordered the clamp and an extra set of burrs. The burrs I bought because I have found the occasional small stone in the local grains that I used to sprout and I figured it is better to be safe than sorry. And the shipping costs/import tax from the USA are very high, so yeah.. But now that I have ground my first batch I doubt it was really necessary. As you will hear all over this forum, this thing is truly, truly built like a tank. The quality of materials is absolutely amazing (and I have really high standards and expectations when it comes to tools and equipment in general). I do think it is nice to have, but also think it will be a very long time before I need them.
However, I can tell you one thing; it is hard and heavy work to grind on a very fine grind by hand. It is no joke grinding a large amount of finely milled flour, let me tell you that. The flour that comes out of it is finer than anything I have encountered from any local mill, but did take some time and elbow grease.
