Well, I had a kitchen dilemma last week. I dropped the plastic bowl of my venerable food processor and cracked it. It is now useless. About the only things I ever did with it were morning fruit smoothies and pureeing soup. I know that most of my TFL friends also enjoy spending time in the kitchen, so I thought I would share my results for a replacement.
Rather than a food processor, I settled on an immersion blender with three work blades, an eight once chopping container with blade and a one litre blending pitcher. Now if you have a large family or are doing production cooking, this tool set will not replace a processor. But for this old, single ski bum it does a lot of kitchen jobs quickly, well and is easy to clean. I give this product full marks!

Happy cooking and baking! Ski
I love my immersion blender, though I don't have all the bells and whistles as shown. It's quick and efficient - easy to handle and easy to clean up, since you don't transfer the food between vessels. Enjoy!
But not quite that fancy. Definitely great for smoothies and pureeing soups. Have you tried looking for a replacement bowl for you food processor? I just got one for mine which is quite old, but runs like a champ.

I used to cringe at having to mix up a batch of mayonnaise for just a cup or two required in a recipe. Making a lot is no problem in the restaurant but a little for around the house to be used while it is still fresh has always been a problem. Now I mix it in a Ziplock plastic container that goes directly into the refrigerator. Adding a clove or two of micro-planed garlic produces Aioli. Add some roasted red pepper and you've got a great crostini spread. Makes life a lot sweeter.

Thanks Wild-Yeast, this is an excellent tip. Great suggestions for a aioli and pepper spread as well. I agree, it does make life sweeter. Thanks! Ski
PS the frothing attachment works well to froth cappuccino milk. Just don't try it in a coffee mug . . .
