Best pizza peel for home use in UK

Hi all

Going slightly mad looking for the best pizza peel for use in a small galley kitchen in the UK.

There's HUNDREDS out there and I have no idea where to start. I'm erring on the side of wood instead of aluminium (due to the potential of sticking), but really need some advice.

Is it worth spending over £30 on one or are they all much of a muchness? Ideally, I don't want to have to oil the peel every time I use it as it'll probably end up in a drawer buried underneath loads of stuff!

My pizza stone is 30cm by 30cm so I won't be making large pizzas.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

it's more the technique than material in my experience...

I have a nice metal one - this one:

and I use a home-made one - a piece of plywood sanded and cut the exact width of the guides on my oven so I load a whole shelf at once (my oven has 10mm steel shelves - 530x330mm)

Dough will stick to either if I'm not careful - but a good dusting with flour is all that's needed. I use the metal one in my wood fired oven thingy when baking breads and pizzas. A little semolina goes a long way to making sure nothing sticks.

I'm about to make up 3 more plywood transfer boards for my new oven - assuming delivery No. 2 isn't via trebuchet like Mondays delivery was )-: The new oven (Rofco) is a bit narrower and a lot deeper than my existing GN1/1 oven.

And never ever oil it. Really no need.

Happy peeling!

I've gone for your recommended peel. I do love Bakery Bits.

Try to not get too carried away on their site - its far too easy to spend lots of money there :-)
