My stove turned the burners on by itself
Luckily I was awakened at 6:30am by the sound of the oven exhaust fan and a slightly sweet smell. I walked downstairs and discovered that my Frigidaire electric stove had turned two burners on & they were glowing red. I couldn't shut them off and had to trip the breaker. I've since discovered that there was a recall in 2009 due to a "potential fire hazard", which I was never notified of.
I'm posting this as a warning to others and want to know if anyone else here at TFL has experienced something similar. Even if it is fixed I'm worried that it could happen again, and maybe I won't be home to stop it in time. The bizarre coincidence is that two days earlier was my last bake of the season for my cottage food business.
That must have been scary. I am getting a new stove and will really have to watch it.
by the folks who sold you the stove is reason enough for me to switch brands and supplier.
Talk about customer service! Yikes.
Before buying a new appliance I would do a web search to see if there are any recalls associated with that brand's products. Ah for the old days of manual, not digital, appliances. I left my 20 year old Whirlpool washer & dryer with the house I sold and they were still going strong.
