Lame
I broke down and ordered a Walnut lame from Amazon. I'd been using the razor blade and chopstick but I still wasn't getting the scoring I desired.
Today's bake of the 123 sourdough using the new Lame showed much improved scoring of the loaves. I'll reserve total approval after a few more bakes but todays results please me.

@WendySusan,took a look at the walnut lame you mentioned. Nice looking and well finished blade holder - one thing I noticed is that it clamps the blade straight in lieu of the desired curve. This may or may not be an issue depending on the type of cutting action desired. I've gotten used to the blade being curved, cutting through the dough surface and furling it up like a plow through earth. I now understand why French bakers have settled in on this style of design...,
