Does anyone bake bread in the bake oven of a Tulikivi masonry heater? We are considering installing one as our primary heat source for the house we are building. Most of the info on the web comes from Tulikivi dealer sites. I'd like to hear from bakers, not dealers, who have personal experiences. I bake a Tartine style fermented sourdough loaf right now using a Le Cruset dutch oven in a conventional oven. My results are pretty good. I am hoping to do better if we install a Tulikivi.
in German language has a long tradition. Baking ovens are often installed above the burning box. If your tulikivi oven design requires burning twice a day, you can find a more efficient one.
Many of the baking ovens are flue inserts and it might be possible to have the oven opening in the kitchen and the masonry oven in the living area with the oven between rooms. Get one with a thermometer and window in the door.
