My First Sour Dough Bread
Hi i am new to Baking bread but love to cook. I love breads and have gained to much weight LOL. So i have bin trying to eat healthy but refuse to give up on breads. I tried years ago to make no knead regular white Bread and did but gained weight so stopped. I tried to make WW Sour Dough starter from PR -WWW Book but it did not work. I did not give up my second attempt was Sour Dough Ladys it worked. I am on day 10 and decided to try my first loaf. I got a recipe for Spelt sour Dough Bread.
Now I'm Hooked!!
bread made without chemical and preservativeand long fermented is much healthier and do not make you gain weight.
Kobali,
Please include a caveat: Depending on how much and how often you eat it!
Looks good!
I too try and eat healthy but refuse to give up bread. It's not called the 'staff of life' for nothing. Make it healthy and it'll be healthy and make it part of a nutritious diet. Any fad diet that tells you to miss out any of the food groups is a bad diet. Carbs are good just make sure it's the correct Carbs in the right amounts and sourdough spelt is very healthy.
Enjoy!
I baked four loaves of very long-fermented sourdough for my parents when I visited them over the holidays. My mom is a phenomenal cook, but isn't at all used to having home-baked bread around. She was floored by how satisfied she was by a simple egg and sourdough toast breakfast; she felt more nourished and energized than she did with her regular cereal, yogurt, and/or fruit. Apparently sourdough also has more protein than even heavy whole grain breads that haven't undergone extended fermentation? So fascinating. Your loaf looks great!
Thanks so much.
Yes i am all in now LOL. I bought a grain mill to get all the nutriments fom wheat berries . I find making baking bread fascinating and challenging. I have bin trolling for months to soak all the usefull infomation from TFL . This site rocks Thanks.
Glad you are having fun, be careful of the addiction. There is something really special about this process and the amazing part to me is the more healthy you make it, the more fun and challenging it can be.
