baking stone

Can a piece of marble be a good baking stone? What natural stones are ideal to use as baking stone?

I use a quarry tile. Its cheap and works nice. I think marble might be too dense and may burn the bottom of the bread too much, but that's just a theory.

Thanks! I am in India now and see a lot of marble and stone around.Not sure if it is quarry or not but will check it out.
