Valentine Braided Bread

Happy Valentine's Day! This bread is based on the challah in Peter Reinhart's "The Bread Bakers Apprentice". It is 14" across. Will find out this evening how it tastes.

Beautiful!  Great job.  I'm sure it will taste as good as it looks...maybe not as good as a box of Godiva, but with some cheese and butter you will be good to go :).

Thank you for the kind comments.

@isand66- I gave my wife a wedge of her favorite cheese to go with the bread, also gave her some of her favorite chocolate.

Great idea! Wish I had thought of doing that. I'll keep it in mind for next year. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words! @mdvpc–it actually tasted pretty good (at least according to the family, the dog doesn't count as he likes everything I bake). The crumb was soft, slightly moist, and not too sweet.

Could any of you provide the instructions for making the braided heart shape? Do you begin with three dough ropes? How are they braided together at the top and center of the heart?

Thank you!

That looks spectacular :-) If it were me, I'd put a jar of strawberry and rose jam in one of the holes and a jar of chocolate ganache in the other...
