Does the dough hook touch the bowl on your mixer?
I recently got the metal bowl for the bosch compact. I noticed that the dough hook can sometimes hit the bowl. This happens when the bowl is going to park or when on mode 3 and 4. It also happens when some dough gets stuck on the side of the bowl.
At first I thought it was just the metal bowl. Possibly a defect. It not being machined properly. I then decided to use the plastic bowl to see if it touched. It actually does. It's just a lot less visible because the metal hook rubbing the plastic makes a lot less noise than the metal dough hook touching the metal bowl.
I originally got the metal bowl because I guess the hook scrapped the bottom of the plastic bowl and caused a bubbled under it. Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this with their mixer of any type?

Thanks for the videos. I watched the one on the Compact but he doesn't really mention how to adjust it. Did I miss it?
No I didn't see adjustment instructions in the video.

I have had a Compact for quite a while, and used it a lot, and have not had any wear spot or scratches on the plastic bowl. I just tried it, at each of the 4 speeds, and it does not seem to touch the plastic bowl - so long as the plastic bowl is fully seated. Is it possible your dough hook is slightly bent? It is possible that the Compact resting point could be adjusted, but it does not look like it would be easy - so I would be looking at other options - is is resting fully seated on the machine?
Thanks a lot for your response. The bowl is certainly seated all the way down. Both the plastic and metal bowl are the same so it would seem that it's either the mixer itself or the hook.
On my mixer the sound is vert slight on the plastic bowl so you really have to listen for it. On the metal bowl it's very audible due to the metal on metal. It's not all that visible on mode 1 and 2. But on 4 with no dough in either bowl the hook seems to just go around hitting the side of the bowl.

The hook could be bent but I'm not sure how it would have got to that point.
FreshGoose. First, you are right, it is difficult to hear whether the hook hits the plastic bowl over the sound of the mixer. My feeling that it does not scrape against the bowl is that I have used it pretty hard - often I have used it with a high hydration dough at speed 4 for up to 20 minutes at a time, and there are no scratches on the plastic bowl. I looked at that video. It is hard to be sure, but at that point I don't think he is saying it hits the side of the bowl, I think he is saying that it gets close to the bowl at that point, and due to the angle and rotation, on the next revolution, it gets close to a different part of the bowl. This is a link to 2 videos in Italian of the Compact - he runs it at high speed for nearly 20 minutes, and while the bowl shakes, I think that is due to the dough moving, not the hook hitting the plastic. http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,23289.msg236509.html#msg236509 . I have done something similar quite often, and if the hook was actually hitting the bowl, I would thing there would be some sign on the bowl by now.
You might want to call customer service and see what they suggest. The hook is only $13.00, so one option it to bend it slightly and see if that is better, and if you mess it up, buy a replacement hook.
