.Hovis pans, before and after
I wanted a Hovis loaf pan,, a kind soul sent me two.. the top picture is how the arrived for me,, bottom picture after my husband worked on them,,, just though you would like to see my antiqie treasures.. qahtan
So, what brand of sandblaster does your husband own? LOL!
From the before pictures I'd have sworn the letters had been completely eroded - was there really that much crud on the pans that once you got if off (sandblasting or otherwise) the letters were entirely restored, or did it require some "re-embossing"?
I can tell you it took a lot of elbow grease, but it was well worth it, and as you can see the name shows well in the
home milled whole wheat bread... qahtan
to get the baked on crud off of the outside of old cast iron frying pans that I've purchased. A propane torch and a paint scraper really gets most of the stuff off.
this was hot water, dishwashing liquid and steel wool.qahtan
I have acquired many used pans so I know what you went through to get them clean. Beautiful!
strong hands yes, but after 50 odd years together it was a labour of love like so many other jobs like this that Gerry (husband) does for me. qahtan
