Thanks to Floyd for the tangzhong renaissance on TFL and PDLarry's red bean buns and custard buns for inspiration, I baked some TangZhong smoked brisket baos.

wow.. so good!
Appreciate the feedback. While they baked well, my bun/bao making techinque isn't great. The stuffing and pinching and rounding is a little rough.
Major food porn right there. What kind of "sauce" is that in the filling?
The sauce was sauted onions, chopped brisket, Rudy's Bar B Q sauce, and little cornstarch slurry to thicken.
Glad that you enjoyed the bao picture!
Looks delicious!
Totally appreciate your tangzhong post. The detailed write up and supporting links made me try making tangzhong bread again.
as delicious as duck stuffing. I'm surprised these bao haven't taken off at BBQ palaces. Maybe they think they would take away from other sales :
Well done!
A duck stuffing bao would be fantastic. Duck + green onion + hoisin sauce would be a winning combo for me. If only the crispy skin can be retained.
I'm surprised that smoked brisket baos or other BBQ baos aren't made. Guess I should start my food truck :)
Those look fantastic. Great idea.
