I was so happy that the video photographer showed things in real time wherever possible, and didn't gloss over details. That really brought home the effort that was put forth to make this bread in a way that a condensed version would not have. You could tell by the hands and arms, mostly, that this was not an old woman. Still, given the amount of work involved, I'm surprised she had an extra pound of flesh on her body! A really interesting study. I'll never again complain about my gas oven not getting up to temp quick enough.
These videos put bread baking in perspective. No mixers, no fancy equipment, just the baker, some ingredients and an oven - simplicity itself.
