Hello from SW Virginia
Hi, I am Jonathan from near Blacksburg, Virginia. I have been using the site to get some basic ideas on bread baking and have seen a marked improvement over my early efforts. I like the lay out of the site and am grateful for such a wealth of information.
I am trying to learn more and want to start crafting some bread. I am a scientist and so am trying to understand the reasoning behind different techniques so I can apply them to my own breads.
I am looking forward to much baking ahead.
Cheers!
Hello Johnathan,
Becareful of what you wish for. Baking bread is quite adictive and if not carefull you will be giving up your day job to bake bread full time. (sorry that's my story)
This is a great place to learn all the science of bread baking and I look forward to reading about your bread journey.
Anyway I'm just south of you in Floyd so if you need starter or something let me know.
Interesting sign in name... Florist or Endo?
Faith
Hi Faith,
Thanks for the offer. I may take you up on it. I may well ply you with questions as well.
Orchiddoc refers to my other hobby, growing orchids. I am or used to be a horticulturist. My PhD is in horticulture and I did resarch on native orchids, hence orchiddoc.
Cheers,
Jonathan
Hi Johnathan,
Just let me know. I bake almost every weekend and have a large kitchen. I do the majority of my baking in my WFO. I'm by no means a profesional baker but always willing to share what I know.
Okay...those kind of orchids...cool.
