New Here -question about buying Assistent Mixer
Hi everyone, I was sure glad to find this forum yesterday while I was researching different mixers. I think I'm pretty well settled on a Verona/Assistent/DLX/Electrolux mixer -whichever it's called nowadays. I see them most everywhere for the same (rather high) price, but I just found this store: http://www.worldwidevoltage.com/verona-akm6220b-assistent-mixer--matte-black-color---110-volts.html . They seem to have the mixer, along with a whole bunch of accessories for a good deal lower price than most stores just sell the mixer for. My husband always says that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Does anyone have experience buying from them, or thoughts on whether this is really the good deal it seems to be?
Thanks so much!
Melissa
Take at look at this Better Business Bureau page I found:
http://www.bbb.org/chicago/business-reviews/electronic-equipment-and-supplies-dealers/sam-electronics-in-elk-grove-village-il-88080467
The site you're asking about (worldwidevoltage.com) is mentioned at the bottom of that page as an alternate business name. Fifty-two complaints seems like a lot to me, but all were resolved, according to that BBB page. I think you're right to be wary, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't buy from them.
Edit -- Sam Electronics is a German company, so you may be buying gray market goods -- not meant for U.S. and therefore not guaranteed here.
Thank you for that info -I'm thinking it's probably better to go with a more well known dealer. Even if the price is higher. Sigh. Ah well, I'm sure I will love the mixer!
I'm also thinking about the Assistent, almost ready to "decide." I think jaywillie's post is great; what a good TFL neighbor! Sometimes the hassle isn't worth a few dollars savings. I've seen comments re. good service for www.pleasanthillgrain.com and www.mountaintopsmilling.com, both good places to purchase, and the prices seem consistent.. Anyway, good luck, melissab.
The accessories seem to be those that come as standard in Europe when buying a basic Assistent, does sound like a grey import.
Hope you don't regret your decision.
