Never used it myself. The only thing I know about it is it's one of the most sought after dry yeast in Japan, both among home bakers and professional.
Saf Red is another very popular one over there and is probably more widely used by home bakers mainly because it's more widely available than Fermipan's and the latter is only available in a large pack (500g). Judging from the reviews on various internet sites, most of people who've used both say they prefer Fermipan's because of its very reliable quality and also of having less yeasty-smell compared to other dry yeast.
thank you lumos,I would like to try it sometime, as for v myself i use fresh yeast from sainsburyy, simply because it is easier to get. i often woder if others are using other types or do as i do.have a a nice day

I used to get fresh yeast from Sainsbury, too, before I switched my breadbaking to mostly sourdough-based. You can get fresh yeast from Tesco, if there's one near you. They usually give it you for free.
Re Fermipan yeast, as far as I know it was originally developed by a Dutch company during WWII for American army and is trademarked with its licence is owned by Lesaffre, France, who makes another very popular dry yeast, SAF-Red.
You can read about both yeast on their website.

Also, if you google with 'Fermipan yeast reviews' you'll find lots of reviews by people who've actually used it, too. Unlike the reviews by Japanese users, most of people seem to think there isn't much difference between two.
Hi Lumos
my hands is full of dough, bread is almost readyfor the oven.I will ask for yaest at Tesco when I get to one. Mind you it is not a shop I like to visit I will share my opinion at another time.
I am gradually making the shift to sourdough myself, I still need to change my apce and thinking to sourdough too.
I am very excited because I am spending two days in Wales with Mick from bethesda bakery thius wek to get to learn and try to master the art of sourrdough. I thank you for the ,links etc bye albert
I think we share the same feeling about (or 'against' I should say, probably...) Tesco. I try avoiding shopping at them unless it's absolutely necessary and I have no other choice whatsoever. :p
Have a wonderful time in Wales with Mick! Look forward to hearing about the experience. :)
I saw Fermipan for the first time at Little Salkeld Water Mill near Penrith but I am sticking with l'Hirondelle (no, it's not a cheap white wine) yeast I buy from Richard Bertinet.
