E-mail notification of replies
It's nice receiving e-mail notifications whenever someone responds to a thread I'm following but is there any way I can turn off that notification feature when I'm the one who's written the reply? I'll get an e-mail saying there's a new reply to a thread I'm following and it will be the message that I just posted. I don't need to be notified about my own postings.
Really, an extremely minor inconvenience when you get all the new replies.
The various email notification behaviors are controllable per-user by a variety of settings. Click "My account" in the darker tan stripe at the upper left and then click the "Notification settings" tab. Make everything the way you want it to be, then click the "Save settings" button at the bottom.
There are some more settings that you may think are also related to notifications (even though the system thinks they're more closely related to something else). Again click "My account" in the darker tan stripe at the upper left but this time click the "Subscriptions" tab then click the word "Settings" near the bottom of the page. Make everything the way you want it to be, then click the "Save" button at the bottom.
Unfortunately I don't know exactly which combination of settings will do what you want. (For one thing the exact behavior of the settings sometimes changes slightly with different releases of Drupal.) I do know though that I personally do not get email notifications of my own postings (except when I originated the whole thread), so it is possible. (My own notification settings are currently "Disabled" - "Enabled" - 'Title + Body" - "Enabled" and my own subscription settings are currently "check" - "check" - "check" - "" - "" - "Daily" - "" - "".)
Here's what I did in case anyone else wants to know how to do the same thing. Thanks for the help.
1. Click on My account.
2. Click the subsriptions tab.
3. Click on Settings.
4. Uncheck the box that says, "Notify poster of own posts."
5. Click Save
