Problem with Grain Mill / help with what to buy

Hi

I purchased a Nutrimill grain mill and liked it for a few uses. Then I couldn't get the part that holds the milled grain to come apart. The last time I cleaned it and put it back together was the last time I could get the parts to slide apart. I since got rid of it. In hindsight I should have sent it to where I purchased it from to get help. Woulda, coulda, shoulda ...

Has anyone had that problem and what did you do to keep it from happening? Maybe put a bit of oil around the rubber part so it will slide?

Is that a problem with the mill? I am looking to buy another and if I can conquer that problem, I'd probably buy the same type. Otherwise I want another. I tried the K-Tec and it about drove me out of the house with the noise.

Thanks for your help.

Nancy

The rubber gasket on the Nutrimill's are very tight and stick easily if they've been thoroughly cleaned, dried, and put together without something to make the gasket slide.

The best solution is after cleaning, to dust the rubber gasket with flour so that a nice thin coating covers the entire gasket (think of cake pans when they are dusted with flour).

After the flour is on there, it will never stick again.

I had the same problem you had, and after learning about the flour method, haven't had an issue since and the cover slides on and off easily.

Great idea - and so simple

Now I have to go buy another! Now, where is my credit card?

Thanks

No problem, now if I could just find replacements for that little black filter on the top, I lost my extra somewhere.  I wonder if I could just use some other kind of foamy material.
