Mom made another pudding to fill us up cheaply. A suet dough with Tate and Lyle's Golden Syrup drizzled over before baking. Served with Bird's custard, of course. Then the one where she somehow lined a dish with cornflakes and added custard and topped it with more cornflakes then baked it. I imagine she invented some of the things we ate during the war - but we never went hungry! A.

Yes suet was the thing when I was a girl, it did to the flavour, but I always use butter in mine.. ;-))
