Finally-Score homerun with new scale, mini RV oven and paver brick
After tossing about 3 loaves and a pizza this week and many more hohum loaves in the house and RV I finally scored the homerun! My scale showed up from Amazon (AWS Onyx). I made a "German Rye" off of the KA website. Converted it to grams myself and changed AP to 1/3 WW. (hate white flour). Added 50g VWG and adjusted this by subtracting from AP as well. (was this the right correction?
The only other change was that I doubled the caraway seeds.
Planned to let this bread cool out of the oven but, 15 minutes later my husband had already eaten a large slice. 2/3 of the dough is shaped in the freezer to take to the parents for Christmas. I'll stick in the fridge the day before. I cooked this in the tiny oven in the microwave with a huge brick paver on the bottom and the only "pan" was a foil liner over the oven grate so the bread was basically directly over an open flame.

I have no idea how to size and I couldn't erase the duplicate once I posted. Sorry about that.
If you have Windows XP, you may have the Power Toys ap(free download from MS).
Then, when viewing the photos(in My Pictures, etc.), just right click on the images, then click on the "resize" option.
I also think most photo programs have resizing capabilities.
Anyway, looks good. Speaking of KA rye recipes, have you ever done the one that uses dill pickle juice. Haven't done any rye loaves yet, but that will be my first one, whenever. Love pickle juice in stuff.
ps: to remove the image in post, just backspace like you were correcting a word, etc., iirc.
I have a MAC and am not quite used to using IPhoto yet. Used to use photo shop for tba ms everything.

No, but there is one on KA I may try> if I do I'll sub 50% WW for white.
Next week I'll make the same bread as today and use my new sourdough starter from Eric. Fingers crossed.

Thanks Eric. Making some sourdough pancakes so that I don't have to throw baby starter away. Also, mixing up some dough to freeze for my parents. I let it rise and shape. Mom can do the second rise and bake some fresh bread as she doesn't do bread but they love fresh bread. Do you have a good recipe you'd like to share this AM? I'm looking for something with WW or rye of course.
I grew up in a family where we don't eat white. My mother is Finnish and grew up in Northern MN in Wawina where they couldn't afford white flour (literally). So, my mother has never developed a taste for white flour.
My grandmother baked the best rye/WW bread I ever tasted in a sandwich loaf. This is who I have for my inspiration. She also baked the most beautiful pies with wild berries and rhubarb. Even the wonderful pies were with WW and or rye. They also didn't have white sugar.
They literally lived off the land with venison, fish, bear, wild berries and a huge garden. My mother is a wonderful cook. She's intimidated by baking but I think it's because she feels she will never measure up to Grandma.
