This dough is not edible
My son will start school in two days and we're trying to wrap up our summer projects. Here's one of them, a little snake made of self hardening dough. We had a lot of fun making it but little man thought painting was the best part. I usually have to keep telling myself not to eat too much when I start a new dough, but I don't have to worry about taking a bite too big out of this one. LOL
What a great job your son did forming and painting this snake! I assume it's a dough with a high salt content?
Thanks. The recipe calls for 4 cups of flour and 1.5 cups of salt mixed with 1.5 cups of water. I used 1 tsp of alum in the mixture but I wished I had added some lemon juice of vinegar because the little snake had a small crack on the bottom. My son had his snake in his room for a "sleepover" last night. LOL
The salt will absorb water and then... POOF ! ...puff adder.
Varnish dip?
LOL Mini. Fortunately, we live in an area where humidity is never a concern. We definitely will put a finishing spray over it to protect the colors. We have just finished this one today as our last summer painting project. Hope it won't fall or it will turn into "Flapzilla" LOL
