Hi SulaBlue, These are gloves made for useing while Bar-B-Queing and WFO cooking. It gets pretty warm reaching inside an oven that's capable to heat over 1000F. These are good to wear when moving the burning logs around, sweeping and mopping the hot coals and ash out. You need the protection from the heat all the way up your arms sometimes! I have used them a few times when baking indoors to protect my upper arms. They are not really that heavily insulated on the hands and fingers...but they do work well around intense heat more than picking up hot things!

I wasn't sure what I was looking at - but sometimes, I certainly do think I could use "armor" up to my arm pits!
They look a lot like welding gloves to me.
