Recording Videos
Hey guys,
I am trying to record an instructional video and I'm having a ton of problems with compression and the audio/video syncing. Does anyone have any experience with this stuff?
I don't understand how all these people put good looking videos on youtube but for some reason my computer still refuses to make any type of video that doesn't look it was recorded in 1976 with a microphone thats 2 seconds out of sync.

What do you use?
I've tried using a logitech web cam. The quality was terrible and the audio was about 10 seconds delayed when using adobe premeire. I also have a nikon coolpix that ive tried to use.
That Logitech camera isn't likely to give good video no matter what, however. I would think that Premier provides the ability to shift the audio track. I've used Cinelerra on Linux, which is free, and it provided that capability.
Your source is junk - sorry, but there's no way around it, you need a decent camera to produce a decent video. Doesn't have to be expensive (unless you want HD), but it has to be better than webcam. I would never recommend using Premiere - it is expensive, unwieldy, requires significant learning curve, and really was never meant for amateurs. In my experience it is much easier to butcher a video with it and waste time than produce a desired result. Start with something simple, like iMovie (is that what they call it?) or Microsoft Movie, and see if that could be sufficient for your needs. If not - you'll have a much better idea what capabilities you need.
