Save blog post without publishing

Does anyone know if it is possible to save a blog post 'draft' i.e. save without publishing?

I would also like to know if this is possible.

What I have done is to use MS Word for the text portion and then when I am ready, I paste it into the post. But be sure to use the "Source Code" button ("<>") when pasting, otherwise, the Word formatting comes along for the ride and the post will contain a lot of gibberish (don't ask me how I know).

Here’s some additional text added to this post pasted from MS Word. I press the Source Code button and paste at the end of the text string. Some additional touch-up may be needed, but it is usually not too extensive.

Now my posts written on this forum are going haywire.

I tried to write in addition to the post(s) above...

So that's what that button is for! I have done the MS Word Copy and Paste route but the layout gets screwed up. Then I spend more time correcting it then if I had just written my post from scratch on the forum.

But TFL refused to allow me.

MS RTF markup is a minefield when moving into html… Textmate is my go to but any straight txt editor should simplify. And TFL’s source code editor is no picnic…

Yes, the source code editor is no picnic. I don’t try to edit using it. I just use it to paste a long block of MS Word text to my post without producing gibberish. I’ve seen it happen in other posts. Some minor touch-up is required, like paragraph breaks, but it is so much easier to use Word. I’ll have to try a text editor.

Note: This post was made with the Source Code button with text pasted from Word.

Thanks all for the replies. I have also discovered first hand what happens when copy and pasting from Word...not pretty at all. It was faster to re-type than edit the thing.

Sounds like saving drafts is not a feature though. Alas.

Test: Pasting from Wordpad.

Maybe OK?
