Site usage FAQ
From my expierence with content management systems, there's usually nifty ways to create links to other content on the site. I looked around (honestly, I did! :) ) and I didn't see any FAQ on ways to quickly post links that search or link to other content.
Example would be typing something like [10 Minute Banana Bread] would create a link that would point to the recipe for the 10 Minute Banana Bread. Also, if there are any other cool features for creating content, I'd be interested in those as well.

I didn't have a clue how to make links to photos or webpages when I became a member of this site, but I found Floydm's tips and links quite straightforward and now I don't have many problems...
Look at the row that says "Anchors are used to make links to other pages" at this link-- Basic HTML instructions

Thanks.. I understand how to make a normal HTML link, but I was wondering if there were linking shortcuts, like typing [rmk129] automatically linking to your profile, or typing [recipe:Onion Bread] taking you to the Onion Bread recipe, or [search:blah blah] creating a link that would search the site for "blah blah". I've seen content management systems in the past that have this ability and I was wondering if this framework had similar functionality.

No, there aren't url creation shortcuts like that and no, currently there aren't any content creation shortcuts.
Drupal lacks many of the bells & whistles that other CMSes and forums packages have. That is by design: many of those have so much cruft that managing the databases and the custom markup is a nightmare. But it does mean that it takes a higher level of technical sophistication to create content that integrates images and links.
As I've mentioned a few times, I'm getting ready to upgrade the site to Drupal 4.7. When I do I was intending to include a couple of modules to make content creation simpler. One would be the TinyMCE module that gives you a WYSIWYG editor in the node creation and comments fields. Another module would be the one that automatically hot links anything that began with http://. I'm still looking through what else is available, but I do realize that something that makes it easier to add links and include images is needed.
Yeah, I've used some bloated CMS's in the past so I know what you're talking about. It sounds like you have a few cool new toys for us in the future too. :)
