Hey there TFL community,

I am planning a wedding for September in Charlotte, NC and was wondering if anyone might be able to recommend a baker or two that I could check out for the cake.

Thanks all,

Paid internship/summer Job?

I am almost finished with my penultimate semester of school (second to last). I am looking for summer work in a bakery or a paid internship. I will be available from the second week in april until the beginning of september (2012). I need some real bakery experience, however I also need the money to help pay for school. My degree after my final semester will be a BS in University Studies (Liberal Arts) with minors in Culinary Arts and Spanish and a cluster in education.

I live in Idaho (but am willing to travel elsewhere depending on housing arrangements) and I have taken the following courses:

Bakery

Cake decorating

Advanced Cake Decorating

Pastry

Confectionary

Culinary Fundimentals

Culinary Nutrition (with a Servsafe License).

If you guys have any ideas that would be greatly appreciated. I also have a Resume prepared just in case. Thanks!

-Tyler

Bread Bakeries

Alright, I'm heading from Tacoma, WA over to North Dakota via I-90 and I-94, I would really like to stop at a couple of bakeries on my way through Montana.  If you happen to know of any fantastic places, please let me know.  Thank you for any suggestions.

Polish Bread and Bakery Links (Polski Chleb)

Hi Everyone,

Unfortunately, I haven't been a regular contributor to the forum, but I'm a daily observer and just love learning new things about bread.  As I get settled and start baking again, I hope to contribute a little more often.  I currently live in Warsaw, Poland, and just can't get enough of the wonderful breads here.  I followed up on some of the bakeries that I found near by, and I'm glad to see that they've got a home on the web too!  These are some bakery and TV links (with short videos in Polish), but definitely worth a look.  The product galleries are also nicely displayed.  Hope you enjoy!

Berkel 20qt Mixer

I just bought an old Berkel BX20 20 qt mixer. It's cast iron and super heavy. I'm looking to purchase a work table to support it. Does anyone have any idea what this might weigh and what are my best options for a table?

Karaway - New Russian/Lithuanian Bread shop in London

Not sure how many of you are near enough to go and buy their bread, but there's a tiny shop in the newly opened Westfield Stratford City that sells good selection of Russian/Lithuanian breads and other baked goodies.

Karaway

They have Lithuanian style scalded rye, pumpernickel, Borodinsky and several other interesting bread, and they are not mass-produced.  I only nibble small pieces of those bread they have for tasting (too much breads at home for consumption...), but they all taste really good.  Thoroughly recommend it.
