Tip - Oven Cleaning
Oven Cleaning. A subject near and dear to our hearts :(
I’m retired and any thought of work is repulsive ;-) But sometimes a man gotta’ do what a man gotta’ do...
If you look closely at my profile image you’ll notice that I’m peeking through the oven window as I watch the bread bake. Unfortunately, after many loaves have succumb to high heat, steam, stones, steels, cast iron, Granite Ware, and God knows what else, the window becomes difficult to see through. For those that don’t know there is an easy way to clean the stubborn baked on mess. Get a bowl and put in a handful or so of baking soda. Then add enough vinegar to make a thick paste. Smear the paste on the inside of the oven door on the glass. Let it sit 30 minutes or so. You will be surprised how easy it is to wipe the gunk off. If anything stubborn remains use a single edged razor blade to remove.
Another labor saver that has worked for me is THESE MATS [1] . Place 2 of them, side by side, to catch anything that falls to the bottom. They are inexpensive, lightweight, and do a great job of making clean up easy.
If you have other ideas or tips, let us know.
