Corporate Zombie turned Amateur Baker [Hello from the Philippines]
Hello & Greetings from Manila, Philippines. I am a business development consultant by day, but i'd like to become an amateur baker by night (or really early morning).
I have always been a big fan of good bread..and while i love to cook, baking seemed quite intimidating.
the past few months, my interest in bread turned into a passion. if i had to trace it to one point, i think it was when i read an article in Saveur Magazine (http://www.saveur.com/article/Kitchen/American-Bread ). inspired by the author, i decided to roll up my sleeves and try my hand at creating artisan bread myself. i began actively looking for artisan bread in Manila, and even got to meet a local baker at a weekend farmer's market, who makes a mean sourdough bread and a lovely challah. i purchased a small oven, a few pans, some basic ingredients and began searching the net for more information. that is when i came across this forum, which is rich in practical information and full of people who seem really friendly and eager to share their knowledge.
i'm excited to be part of a community like this and look forward to learning from you guys.
