Doves Farm originaly dry yeast (not the quick one), is activation necessary?
I normally use Doves Farm Quick yeast, but the last time I ordered from them, I also bought a tin of their Original Dry Yeast. It says on the tin, that you have to activate it (add it to some water and sugar). I have never done this before, with either fresh yeast, or dried yeast of other brands. Is it really necessary, or will the fermentation just take a bit longer to start, if I skip the activation step?
