this is the BEST loaf I have ever made, considering the circumstances. We were camped in a dry riverved in NT last year for 2 1/2 weeks and naturally after a couple of days, had to start making our own breads. The dough for this bread was basically a no knead bread ( made it up as I went - trying to remember how I used to do it), kneaded lightly on the tailgate of the Cruiser and then the dough was placed in a small camp oven to prove. After a proving, knockdown & second prove in the camp oven, I noticed that the lid of the camp oven had lifted right off. We placed the camp oven inside a larger campoven, cooked it in the coals of an openfire with a small fire on top - As you can see, it just turned out so well and tasted gorgeous with a slightly smoked flavour. Needless to say, several loaves followed this ripper, but never again was one as good as this!!!
