Hello from Iowa!

I was a stay-at-home mom when my children were very young, so I had lots of time to experiment with baking breads.  I tried just about everything it seems.  I don't bake quite as much anymore since it's just my husband and I.  I got a bread maker several years ago and it makes the job easier by far, but there is nothing quite as satisfying and even cathartic as the act of kneading dough by hand.

Thank you for this website.  I think it will be one that I'd like to refer back to again and again for more recipes!

Welcome to TFL, emirahs!

As a former user of bread machines I agree that they can be quite useful, especially for mixing dough. I gave up on the machine for its baking capacity long ago, since you can do so much better for yourself in your oven. And oven technique is fun to develop and hone.

It is a challenge when you are baking for just 2 as compared to for a whole family. Still, if you eat bread every day you will have ample opportunity to try out a variety of different recipes for both your own pleasure and your health!

If you have a digital camera, we'd love to see some photos of your efforts. Since we can't taste or smell your bread, words and pictures are all we have!

Good luck!
