cookies and biscuits for the feast.

Dear friends,

In the occasion of our feast , i made a lot of cookies and biscuits , some are pure egyptian , some from the gulf area , chocolate chips cookies ,european biscuits, so that is a variety , so every one of you can choose the one he likes.

if you are interested to share the recipes , i am ready.

oh oh! I have been looking for a good recipe for those cookies with the jam in the center! I would love your recipe :) (The flowers on the far left of that plate!)

Thank you dear for being interested of my cookies.

The cookies you like is " pate sablee", and here you are the ingredients:

250 g. flour.

125 g.cold butter(cut into small cubes)

60 g. powder sugar.

2 egg yolks.

1 tspn. vanilla extract.

2 -3 tbls chilled water.

in a big bowl put the sifted flour and the butter , scrub the butter in the flour using you fingers tips,it will look after a while like the sand or " sable in french".Add the sugar.make a dough after adding the egg yolks , vanilla, and the 2 sp of water , put it in the refrigerator for 10 or 15 mn,then start shaping it.

That is right Eli, these biscuits are awsome , very delicious with a cup of tea , i adore it with a cup of tea and milk, sometimes i dip the biscuit in my husband  s cup of tea.

That is my mother recipe , but i added some changes, i will write to you now the recipe , but just give me the green card : we use ammonium bicarbonate , o.k??

Is the recipe you gave dstroy, "pate sablee", the one for the cookies with the jam in the center?

Thank you weaverhouse, actually i baked for the feast 10 kinds of cookies and biscuits , If you would have the chance to taste the egyptian kinds , you will never forget its taste , very rich in taste.

Sablee is the one with jam in the center, Eli asked me also about the straws biscuits , these are very tasty.

The sugar iced biscuits are very egyptian , it is called Kahk , it is made of fresh yeast and butter ghee and filled with loukoums and walnuts , the cookie itself is flavored by using " mahleb" do you know it . it is a kind of spice extracted from the cherry seed, i collect the cherry seed especially for this kind of cookie which is very traditional one of the feast.

hello Chahira I also used to live in sidi gaber before I came to the U S ... I see u've got the most tasty recipe could u please give "biscuit el nashader" & "petit for" recipes? I love them I used to make them years ago but I lost the recipe & I forgot it also
