I am a print journalist - yes, they still exist -- and one hobby is making bread and scones and biscuits, etc -- all throw-back kitchen adventures. I'm glad to have found this site!

Although print journalism seems to be in a decline, home baking seems to be in growth mode.  It's good that you get to enjoy baking!

Hi, just found the site. I have baked for years but got out of practice and my recent try turned out boring and tasteless.  I used garden variety whole wheat flour from the grocery store.  Am throwing it out cause I purchased a higher quality flour at a good grocery store.  White whole wheat, and will try again. Kate

I've sorta looked into the flour thing - mostly in trying to make sourdough pizza crust. I haven't gone deep into that effort yet and am hoping I can more or less perfect the making of a loaf of bread before moving on.
