Party bread with cheese dip baked in

A sophisticated take on monkey bread for your holiday soirées. I see potential here for other combinations of soft breads and baked dips.

Have a nice Thanksgiving!

Oh yeah, and there's a video there too.

I'm definitely giving this a try. It looks fabulous. A surprise inclusion to the festivities.

Thanks.

Cheers,

Gavin.

It got me thinking about a slow cooker Reuben dip someone brought to a holiday party some years ago. Apparently, I didn't get the recipe because I couldn't find it in my notebooks. But when I did a search, not only did I find lots of recipes, more than one of them were for a skillet dip arrangement like the one above. Of course, I'd rather make my own bread dough, and I'd make it a rye.

Apparently, skillet dips are a thing (at least with Pillsbury).  A few of the others I came across:

The queso dip I'd pair with JH's Corn Bread (Bread 2nd ed, pg 143). It's a poolish bread.

And then there's artichoke dip.

Possibilities are many :)

I've taken the time to go through the linked recipes. Very keen to try the Skillet Queso dip. I'm also going to make JH's Corn Bread to go with it. As I understand the terminology, your biscuits are what we would call scones. All of them look delicious.

Cheers,

Gavin.

Have you ever made the corn bread? I rather like it and think it might make a good crust for taco pizza as well, or chicken-bacon-ranch with Monterey Jack. But that's a different subject.

Our biscuits and scones are similar (we have both), but scones are sweeter. Those Pillsbury Grands are the kind that come in a pop tube. Fun to pop and convenient to bake, but homemade are better! And yeasted bread will be best, I think. Certainly nicer looking :)

All the best,
