There is a new, fun documentary on Youtube by TONIC on the New Haven Pizzerias Pepe's, Sally's and Modern

It's an interesting history of how Apizza and New Haven style become what it is today !

Thanks for posting this.  As someone who spent a bit of time in New Haven, I can vouch for the fact that if someone has never eaten pizza from one of these places, you are missing true pizza.

I was surprised at the quality of the documentary. It was written and produced by just one guy, so obviously a labor of love.

I searched here but haven't found a recipe that anyone suggested might be close to the real Apizza.

I'll have to keep looking !

After seeing this film we are going to plan a trip to NewHaven to eat apizza. Years ago (1990’s)when planning a trip to Jackson NH.I read about Pepe’s white clam pizza and shucked clams to take to Pepe’s because the article mentioned they often runout of clams. We were excited to experence Pepe’s but arrived @ noon 4 hrs before opening. Having other commitments we couldn’t wait.Bummer!
