Pflaumenkuchen

Made a German Pflaumenkuchen (plum cake) today, make it once or twice as summer nears the end.  It is an enriched yeast base topped with plums and best when served with real whipped cream.

This reminds me of a sweet focaccia! Never thought of making a yeasty version before, I make plum cake as soon as I can get the big black plums. I will agree the whipped cream is essential!

Gerhard, that does look absolutely delicious.  I agree with Slipstream that it is reminiscent of a fruit topped focaccia.

more enriched than the focaccia I make the focaccia which has a bread like chew.  This contains milk, eggs, butter and sugar so it much more tender than the focaccia. It is actually the same dough I make for cinnamon buns.
