Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie

The Wall Street Journal had an article on the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie this morning. The follow-up article says that France won, Taiwan took second, and Italy won third. Neither Japan nor the US placed this year.

the winner.  Oh, do I have to wait until tomorrow for you to post it?  (lol)

This is your thread, I will sit on my hands, quiet my speech, and await the announcement.

No, sorry... I got interrupted by two eager little ones wanting to play while I was trying to post this. France won.

I've updated the original post.

I have been searching the web for further details, but the results are far and few.  I hope to be reading more in the next few days.

Thanks for the info, Floyd, and as always, 'You are the best'!!!

I was there.

The French really outdid themselves with beautiful breads (and I emphasize that every bread they baked was beautiful) and a fabulous decorative piece. They did a representation of couture with lace panels for a skirt and a bodice that actually looked like velvet - I don't know if a mere photograph would do it justice. They also had the best cheering section - the stands were packed with fans with painted faces, air horns, and whistles.

The level of skill displayed by all of the competitors is extremely high and gives us all something for which to strive.

What didn't get communicated in the NY Times article is that Peter Yuen of Team USA was named as one of the 4 top finishers in the Viennoiserie category. His creations were beautiful and delicious!

The next Coupe du Monde will be held in 2012.

Unfortunately I am no photographer and have no photos of the competition. Sorry.

I will see what I can do to contact others who may have them...

I would welcome more information.  My searches have left me wanting.  I did find a nice article written and posted via the KA site featuring the USA team.

I'd especially love reading more about the teams and what has inspired them toward their pursuit(s).
