Hello from NJ

Hi! My name is Hindy.  I am sort of a beginner at bread baking. I have been baking Challah for the past 10 years or so...but haven't ventured into other breads until recently.  I am a confident cook, but a hesitant baker.

 Excited to participate on here!

Welcome, Hindy!

Hi, Hindy.

Are you planning on expanding your bread baking repertoire beyond Challah? What other kinds of bread baking interest you?

I do hope to expand to other

I do hope to expand to other kinds of bread making. I would like to make more useful sandwich type breads as well as more savory breads.  I would love to master pitas and a good onion pletzel.

Hello Hindy!  Maggie

Hello Hindy!  Maggie Glezer's A Blessing of Bread has an onion pletzel recipe in it.  I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds good.  If you don't have her book, you might be able to find it at the library.  By the way, where in NJ are you located?  I lived for a while in both  Lyndhurst and Freehold.  The library in Manalapan was fantastic!!  Too bad the library I have now has maybe 5 bread baking books - and 4 of them are for a bread machine. :(

Hello!

Welcome from a fellow New Jerseyan! I'm up in Warren County BTW.

I have had great luck with sourdough, it's really expanded my baking abilities and I learned so much that now no bread formula scares me at all. So why not do some research and look into the sourdough process, and if you want a bit of genuine born and raised in warren county NJ starter to play with let me know and I'll drop some in the mail.
