How to make your own cake release.

Hello everyone,

Don't wast money on 'cake release' sprays. Make your own with shortening, flour and vegetable oil (not olive, use sunflower/canola/etc) in a 1:1:1 ratio. Keep it in an airtight container in your fridge, warm it in the microwave until thick and gloopy, apply direct to your bakeware with a pastry brush. Let the baked item cool in the pan before removing it.

I hate buying shortening (transfats! bad!) but I figure I'm not eating enough of the pan release to harm my health.
