Sourdough English muffins are burning

I am having trouble grilling Whole wheat English muffins without burning them. These are 100% whole wheat and the inside is very nce. Well worth perfecting this technique.  Any help is appreciated.

Yes, when the outside is burning but the inside is good, it almost always just means "too hot".

At least the good middles prove that you have a workable recipe, so the hard part is already solved.

I am about to run out and get  4" cutter. I will lower the temp and watch the time also. As far as a cover I think a disposable lasagna tin will work a peach! Regarding the burned bottoms, I'll just eat them as is. I want to get them perfect, size/unburned, to gift these on the regular to my grand kids.

I make Sourdough English Muffins at work and they have a griddle that I use.  I set the temperature at 350 degrees and cook 8 minutes per side on the dry griddle.  When at home I use a large skillet.  I'll set the temp to medium and see how the first batch turns out (again 8 minutes per side).  If too dark I'll turn it down and if not dark enough I turn it up.  Hopefully it will not take you too long to dial in the right temp.

BTW, your muffins look great and they are probably better tasting than anything you can buy.

I have no doubt that these can not be purchased at any price! It will make me feel good to supply the grand kids with something their Moms can feel good about feeding them!
