Wanting to make a special breat for this Valentine day and I stumbled upon Susan's blog.
I read her Bread of Love posting and thought that today was excellent to bake this bread. It was the first time I used a soaker containing read wine. Also never put pine nuts into a loaf, nor figs. But the result was excellent. Great sweet, crunchy texture, dense and moist too. I love it! Susan, if you read this, thank you for the inspiration. I really love the loaf. Thanks!

Bread of love
Bart, are you sure you didn't bake real pearls in that lovely loaf? I assume what look like pearls are really pine nuts? Whatever, it looks delicious, A.
Anny, wish they were pearls,
Annie, wish they were pearls, but those are the pine nuts indeed :-)

Re: Bread of Love
Bart, it looks terrific. It is really Dan Lepard who deserves a shout for inspiring here; the bread is from his book The Handmade Loaf, recently reprinted as The Art of Handmade Bread.
