Cleaning Brotforms and Bannetons

I have two well seasoned brotforms that I used to proof some walnut fig bread. Unfortunately, the fig juice seems to have left a sticky brown residue where it was in contact with the basket. (See the attached image.) It doesn’t seem to have caused any problems so far (other than discoloring other non-fig breads that proof in the brotforms), but I’m sort of afraid that the sugary mess might mold.

Is this something I need to worry about? Should I clean or scrub the brotforms or just let them do their thing until there’s an actual problem? Any advice would be appreciated.

so I am guessing it is still sort of wet. I would try rubbing rice flour into the mess to absorb as much as possible, let it dry, then scrub with a dry stiff brush. I would be hesitant to put any water in there because it could make a worse mess. That’s my best guess on dealing with this.

The instructions that came with my brotform says it can be cleaned by washing with water and a stiff brush.  No soap.  I've done this a few times with no apparent damage.

use the stiff brush to rub in some flour into the fig spots and see if you can remove it that way first before having to wash it.

Thanks guys. I’ll give it a shot and report back.
