Has anyone tried freezing vanilla bean?

If you've done so, please share your experience.  Wonder if the bean would lose the aroma after defrosting? Thanks.

In the meantime, I'm trying this method.

and there was no issue with the aroma after thawing.

tastes way better !  I have had a jar going for several years. I know folks who have had a jar going for decades with bourbon . I started with beans I had forgotten about, they were in a glass jar with paper in the lid to keep them dry and stored in a dark cupboard...thus the reason I forgot them. I found them and immediately put them in a pint of bourbon. I have never replaced them and the vanilla is wonderful... I can't even remember how many years now but believe me when I say they will surprise you in a great way.

I am off to Hawaii in a couple weeks. I will have a rental on the same road as a vanilla plantation !! WOW>...guess what I am bringing home with me :)

Processed bean pods have been fermented for many years and keep a very long time if kept in a jar. No need to use freezer space.

I read that beans stored in a jar have to be aired regularly.  If it requires extra work, then it is NG to me.
