Sourdough starter day 3 hep!

today I was supposed to remove 1/2 of my starter (140g) before feeding it. I messed up and only removed 70g. Do you think I have to start over? Thanks

It just means you'll have more starter to fresh water/flour. so the yeast in your starter will "consume" the fresh flour faster.. if you would normally leave it for say 6 hours between feedings, realize that it will probably need to be re-fed sooner. And depending on the volume of old starter to newly added water/flour you might not get a double in the volume of starter.. just watch it today. When it looks like it's ready, give it your next feed, don't go by the clock... it will be totally fine..

Thank You! Im feeding it every 24 hrs and I won’t be around to watch it today, Any harm in just feeding it again right now? (I fed it just about an hour ago)

From a smaller feed and still sticking to the once every 24 hours. Just wait till the next feed and carry on as normal.

Don't worry if on days 4 to 5 all goes quiet. If this happens then skip a feed or two, just stir instead, keep warm and carry on when it picks up again.

I fed it again before I saw this response--but I think I’m good so far it seems like a healthy starter. I’ll just assess in the morning and see if it looks hungry. Love this helpful group!
