Bread Alone by Leader or The Village Baker by Ortiz

i can only buy one book - which should it be Bread Alone by Daniel Leader or The Village Baker by Joe Ortiz? anyone any views on the matter?

Assuming that you are shopping used in <$10 range - neither.   Artisan Baking by Maggie Glezer and nothing else is even close.

Ok cool thanks for that I'll check it out - I have Reinharts books, hamelmans bread and a few dan lepard books all of which I love so anything inspiring and knowledgable would be perfect - less recipes more process, tradition, techniques

I always start at the library.  If they have the book that you want, check it out, copy the recipes that look promising and proceed.

I went for the Maggie glazer :) our library isn't great for bread books but yes a good idea...I spend a lot of time scouring 2nd hand and charity shops for old cookbooks and sometimes score
