Hobart N50 transmission repair

I'm in the process of repairing my Hobart N50 mixer. The planatary gear action and the power spline drive in the mixer head doesn't rotate. The planetary gears appear in very good condition, I've removed tons of grease and still can not see any broken gears or drive pins that have been sheared. I'd appreciate any advice that your knowledgable readers can provide. sincerely, george young

Hello,
According to your report, and if you are absoluetely sure that all parts are in good condition, then it may be possible that the upper transmission shaft has popped out from the front bevel gear.
In a such situation, its pin will not drive the bevel gear and all mixer outputs will stop running even the motor and the whole gearbox are rotating well.
This can occur if something goes wrong at the rear of the upper shaft : you normally have a retaining ring which prevents the shaft from moving back and disengage from the bevel gear.

Zoom in the following diagram and you will quickly see what I'm talking about :

If the retaining ring (RR-04-25 circled in red) undoes itself, the upper shaft (12430-23) will be able to shift towards the motor, and then the pin (11800-187 underlined in red) will come out the bevel gear (104040-2).

Regards.
