Possible to make loaf in machine w/o AP four or bread flour?

So we got out bread machine last week. Made a white load with bread flour. Great stuff but it gave us gas and just an all around crummy feel. I am sure it was the white flour.

I would like to make a loaf using only multi grain flour, is this possible without bread flour or AP flour?

Did any recipes or instructions come with it that give you ideas?

Other than that, I'd suggest checking out some bread machine books from your local library, since I don't have bread machine experience to speak from.

but it makes a darn good loaf of bread. This is a 1.5 lb loaf.

Honey Oat Bread

  • 1 ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons powdered milk
  • 1 ⅔ cup flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • ⅓ cup rolled oats
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon yeast
  1. Choose whole grain or whole wheat setting, regular crust. Add ingredients to bread machine in order directed by machine manufacturer.

If you need the ingredients and amounts for a 2 lbs loaf, let me know.

machine. I know that proth5 did a post on whole wheat bread not too long ago.  just serch for it on the search box,  You can always let the machine do the work of kneading and bake the bread in the oven too

you must try to bake the dough in the oven or buy commercial bread! we all have gas problems! oven technology it has the effect of dutch oven and bakes bread in a jiffy! It has magic but you can lie as we do about the bread machine breads!
