I once had a recipe for cornbread that involved cooking the cornmeal before mixing with other ingredients. It seems is also include whole wheat rather than white flour (though that might have been a change I made to the recipe). Anyhow, the result was wonderful - moist and hearty, not cakey. Even my Memphis-born husband who claimed no cornbread was better than his (Mom's recipe) declared this the best he had ever tasted. I managed to lose this recipe in a move and have been looking for it in books and on websites ever since with no luck. Has anybody ever seen a recipe like this? You would not forget it.
