Cornbread

Hi,

I once had a recipe for cornbread that involved cooking the cornmeal before mixing with other ingredients. It seems is also include whole wheat rather than white flour (though that might have been a change I made to the recipe). Anyhow, the result was wonderful - moist and hearty, not cakey. Even my Memphis-born husband who claimed no cornbread was better than his (Mom's recipe) declared this the best he had ever tasted. I managed to lose this recipe in a move and have been looking for it in books and on websites ever since with no luck. Has anybody ever seen a recipe like this? You would not forget it.

I saw a recipe recipe for adding boiling water to cornmeal to make a mush, then adding the rest of the ingredients. Made it once and it was very good. Is this what you are talking about? It used white flour though.  It is on Cooksillustrated called "Southern-Style Cornbread"
